Career Development Events - CDE's
Career Development Events (CDEs) help students develop the abilities to think critically, communicate clearly, and perform effectively in a competitive job market. The Cocke Co. FFA Chapter offers our members the opportunity to participate in a variety of CDEs, that basically cover all aspects of the agriculture industry. On average, we participate in 12 - 13 different CDEs each school year...depending on interest and the availability of time.
Some career development events allow us to have more than one team, such as envirothon and forestry. With others, we can only have one team of four members. If we have more than four members that wish to participate on a particular team, our general policy is to hold practice contests or give practice exams and take the four highest scores to determine who will represent our chapter in that CDE.
We have created sub-pages, containing information on each CDE that we particpate in. If you think you are interested in competing or, at least, trying out for one or more of the events, please see Mr. Howerton/Mr.Ellison to let them know of your intensions.
In order to participate, you must be a member in good standings, and be passing all of your classes. Plus, you must be willing to spend extra time after school for practices and be willing to study at home.
